Talking To Myself - a new song written and recorded 2013.
Uploaded 6 years ago
"Hiding In Plain Sight" - the lyric was inspired by the character Will Parry, in the Philip Pullman book "The Subtle Knife" - part 2 of the "His Dark Materials" trilogy. Will could slip through his world unseen.

"Wildlife on the Rampage" - this was so much fun to create. An instrumental track with masses of percussion, some synths and the Les Paul guitar. A few Apple Loops in the breaks as well. The title is what came to mind when I listened back to an early take of the song.

"Island". An instrumental that I've had kicking around for years until I travelled to Iceland, and used it to accompany some video footage.

We Are One - a plea for tolerance in a blues shuffle style. Chords played on the white Gretsch and an old Yamaha keyboard; the chunky riff played on the blue Tokai; and the solo guitar parts on the Les Paul.

Come The Revolution - This was a bit of fun. The lyric was inspired by the late '70s BBC sitcom "Citizen Smith", although the subject matter is more recent. As well as the Les Paul, there is a Guild D4 12-string acoustic in there and a Rickenbacker 330/12.

"Twice The Speed Of The Music". A song written by Christine Kuwabara. Christine invited me to record it for her in a late '50s jive style. The Gretsch G5422TDCG guitar provided the perfect tone for it.

Journey Through The Clouds. I composed this instrumental tune for my video of travels through Canada. Lots of acoustic and electric 12-string guitar and a soaring Les Paul.

Up The Creek. A three-chord wonder played on my Les Paul and my Gretsch. The lyric was a bit of fun lampooning the kind of corporate manager who thinks that the way to inspire their people is to send out memos full of jumbled up metophors.

Deep Deep Water. A vocal reworking of a song written while sitting on a beach staring out to sea on a hot late-June day while thinking of the plight of whistleblowers stuck in airport transit lounges. The electric 12-string parts are played on a Burns Double Six. The lead guitar parts are played on a Les Paul.

Long Distance Love Affair. Vocal and acoustic guitar from on an old 1974 cassette tape. Nearly 40 years later I've added bass, percussion and some electric guitar. Fun accompanying my younger self.

Three 12-string guitars - a Guild D4/12 for the chords; a Burns Double Six for the riff and a Rickenbacker 330/12 for the chimes and solo. And three-part harmony on the vocals. Started with a few Jimmy Webb-type chords (mostly major sevenths) and then the riff appeared and the song developed from there.
